Peter Bancken received the MSc Science of Materials from Delft University of Technology (Netherlands). He joined Philips in 1995, where he held various positions within the Applied Technology department of the Philips Innovation Group. There he acquired in-depth knowledge of manufacturing techniques and process development, mainly in the field of electronic packaging. In 2000 he transferred to Philips Semiconductor Nijmegen (NXP). In 2005 and 2006 he worked at NXP Caen to start up the innovation group there (France) and continued to miniaturise the active and passive electronic components. He joined Signify (former Philips Lighting) in Eindhoven in 2008, where he has been working on new LED lighting products and concepts ever since. This in close cooperation with the businesses, suppliers, and factories. Within the Research department, he is currently involved in new lighting architectures and technologies such as printed electronics, to improve the sustainability of lighting products.
