February 11, 2025
From February 25 to 27, 2025, around 180 exhibitors from all over the world will present innovations and trends in flexible, organic and printed electronics at LOPEC in Munich. In the following interview, Exhibition Director Armin Wittmann shares some new features of the LOPEC Conference, provides insights into this year’s focus topics and highlights what you should definitely not miss.
Mr. Wittmann, the LOPEC Conference will include some new features this year—what are they and what is their background?
We will now offer special application sessions in the conference program on the focus topics of smart living and mobility. These will bundle practical know-how in the respective area in a half-day presentation format. The technology can then be experienced in real life during a subsequent tour of the exhibition area. This is why we are offering half-day tickets for the conference for the first time this year. Visitors can now attend the trade fair and the presentation program in a single day and get a compact yet comprehensive overview of the current state of the industry.
What will be the focal points of LOPEC 2025?
The overarching topic of LOPEC is sustainability. Exhibitors from all over the world will showcase technologies and applications that make more sustainable products for smart living, mobility and other markets possible in the first place. These products can help to reduce fuel consumption, prevent food waste, support care staff, facilitate sustainable mobility and generate green power. Because its components are so thin, lightweight, flexible and resource-efficient to manufacture, printed electronics is one of the key technologies for a sustainable future. At LOPEC, we will show visitors the enormous opportunities it offers for almost all sectors.
Which program features and highlights would you particularly like to recommend to visitors?
In addition to the application sessions already mentioned, visitors should not miss the Open Plenary Session, a format that we introduced last year and that was extremely well received. It will open the first day of the trade fair on February 26 at 08:30 a.m. (LOPEC Forum on the first floor of the ICM foyer) and is also accessible to visitors without a conference ticket. Thomas Kolbusch from Coatema Coating Machinery will report on the current status of printed electronics from various perspectives. Afterward, Wolfgang Mildner, General Chair of LOPEC, will briefly present the highlights of this year’s event. This includes the Innovation Showcase, an exhibition area where experts present and explain exciting prototypes and product innovations. This is a particularly good example of how this technology will change our lives in the long term. Brand new this year is the Design@LOPEC workshop where technology meets creativity. Together with industry and product designers, we want to explore new applications of printed electronics for wearables and smart textiles.
LOPEC 2025 takes place in Munich from February 25–27 (exhibition: February 26 and 27).
